Chris has been making stupid noises with a bass guitar since he was about 14. His first bass was a Fender P bass copy nicknamed 'Moby Dick'. I think because it was big, heavy, white and smelt faintly of fish. It was on loan from his former art teacher at school, who was a bit of a dab-hand on the ol' four-string. After Big Moby killed captain Ahab and fucked off back to his maws bit, Chris got another bass on loan from his art teacher, an early 70's model Fender Jazzmaster. This he used while in his first proper, (if that word can really be used), band. When he was 16 Chris got his Aslin Dane APJ 101 which is the machine he has used to this day. It's pretty fucked but it's awesome all the same.
Since he had never taken up music as a subject in school, Chris's interest in it came from an old school mate turned drummer. They then went on to form that proper band mentioned earlier, which kinda kept everyone interested until the end of school life. (Except for the drummer, who was replaced shortly after the band formed coz he liked Oasis. Sorry mate).
Chris's main musical influence is undoubtedly Metallica. The day he first heard the 'Black Album' was all it took to get him hooked. Also the energy and aggression of bands like AC/DC, Iron Maiden & Motorhead. The punk interest came a little later when he decided he was too weedy to do heavy metal. It started with pop punk but as his tastes matured he was coaxed away to old school material and punk of a slightly more hardcore nature. Again it was the raw power & aggression that was the big selling point and this fit Chris to a T. So heavy metal & punk became his most influential driving force, although he listens to pretty much anything as long as it's not over-produced, commercial, manufactured pop shite and that godforsaken dance music
